Director - General Manager
LJ Hooker Lake Macquarie
I’m a fourth-generation Lake Macquarie local.
My family has been part of this community since the early 1900s and running businesses in the region since the 1950s. These are the kind of roots that can only result in a deep and genuine connection to a place.

Why we built this
The real estate industry has a perception problem, and honestly, it’s one we’ve created ourselves.
Less ego
The majority of what real estate businesses put out into the world is ego-driven marketing.
- Look how good we are.
- Look at this record price.
- Look at the number of properties we’ve sold.
The message is almost always about the agency, rarely about the people we’re supposed to be serving.
More Authenticity
I’ve been in this industry for 16 years, and one thing I’ve never really seen is an agency build a genuine hub where the clients and communities they serve can educate themselves about all facets of real estate, without the pressure that can come with talking to an agent.
On your own terms
This pressure is real.
A lot of people feel like if they’re just after information, if they’re not ready to buy or sell right now, they’re wasting the agent’s time.
Zero Pressure
And on the other side of that, there’s a genuine concern that the agent will put them under pressure to take action before they’re ready.
So they hold back from asking the questions they actually want answered.
The Take Away
These things are what Groundwork is built to solve.
wanted to create a place where anyone in the Lake Macquarie community, whether you’re thinking about selling, looking to buy, managing an investment, renting, or just trying to understand what’s happening in the property market, can access information that’s easy to consume and genuinely helpful.
We wanted to share what we know, openly and freely, with the broader community.
The reality is that most people would rather do their own research before they talk to an agent.
And we think that’s a good thing.
What we wanted to build is a place where you can do that research, so that when you are ready to have a conversation with an agency, you feel more confident and clear.
You understand the process, you know the questions to ask, and you have a handle on the things that are important to your situation.
it’s understanding what happens at an auction, knowing your rights as a tenant, figuring out how to prepare a property for sale, or making sense of what the market is doing in your suburb, we want this to be the place you come to first.
Built around genuine service.
And if you walk away from any article better informed and more confident in whatever decision you’re making, then it’s done its job.
