Purchase price / dutiable value
The price or market value used to work out transfer duty. In some cases Revenue NSW uses the greater of the contract price and market value.
Property type
Residential homes can attract the premium duty rate above the premium threshold. Vacant land uses the general transfer duty scale.
First home buyer eligible?
If you qualify under the First Home Buyers Assistance Scheme, you may receive an exemption or reduced duty depending on value and property type.
Vacant land intended to build a home?
This matters for vacant land because first home buyer assistance is intended for land that will be used to build a home.
Foreign purchaser?
If you are a foreign person buying residential-related property in NSW, surcharge purchaser duty may apply on top of transfer duty.
Standard transfer duty
The usual NSW transfer duty calculated on the current sliding scale or premium rate where applicable.
First home buyer estimate
This shows the estimated duty after any exemption or indicative concession band estimate. In the concession band, confirm the final amount with the official Revenue NSW calculator.
Surcharge purchaser duty
A flat 9 percent charge that can apply to foreign purchasers of residential-related property in NSW.
Total payable
The combined amount of duty and any surcharge shown by this calculator.
